Who are we?
Not Only Words is an Auckland-based private speech and language therapy practice which provides therapy for children and adults with communication and swallowing difficulties. Making sure our clients can communicate with confidence is our top priority. We provide client-centered therapy to meet the needs of individuals and their families.
Not Only Words has developed close working relationships with health and education providers to ensure an integrated approach to assessment and therapy services.
Not Only Words' therapists are always happy to 'go the extra mile' to get to the bottom of the issues at hand. If we know we cannot help we will say so. We need our clients to be honest with us about their expectations. Therapy is a two-way process. We give the advice, strategies, therapy activities and tips, you do the practice at home.
Referrals are accepted from clients, parents, general practitioners or specialists. Please contact us to make a referral.
What do we do?
First, we complete an initial assessment to identify strengths and areas to focus on in therapy. Then we recommend individualised therapy programmes tailored to meet the individual needs of each client. Progress is regularly reviewed during the programme. The length and frequency of therapy programmes will vary.
We work with children who have speech and language delays, autism spectrum disorders, global developmental delay, dyspraxia, phonological awareness and literacy difficulties, stuttering, feeding difficulties, auditory processing disorders.
We work with adults who have speech, language or swallowing difficulties resulting from stroke or progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease.
Where can you find us?
Not Only Words provides clinic and community services, i.e. seeing clients at home, pre-school or school. Community services are currently available on the North Shore only. Our clinic locations are:
